Created for Buildner’s “Home of Shadows” competition, this design embraces the absence of artificial light by maximising the use of natural daylight. Expansive windows wrap the open-plan living and kitchen area, allowing sunlight to flood the space throughout the day. Roman blinds on each window give the occupants full control over the lighting, enabling them to adapt the ambiance to suit their needs.
At the heart of the home, an open-roof courtyard separates the private bedroom and bathroom wing from the communal areas. Surrounded by curtain walls and bi-fold doors, the courtyard ensures an uninterrupted flow of natural light while visually connecting interior and exterior spaces. The bi-fold doors also open fully to the garden, extending the living area outdoors and enhancing the home’s relationship with nature.
